A modern long-span roofline with a raised clerestory area as a centrepiece now takes pride of place atop the Strathnairn Charity House, thanks to the dedicated efforts of a team of local suppliers.

The project received materials donated from Australian company Lysaght, including all the COLORBOND®steel roofing, gutters and fascia’s. Local company Delnas Metal Roofing handled insulation, the supply and manufacture of flashings, and installation. The combined value of the contributions is around $60,000.

Nicole Leishman from Delnas said the local company was proud to be part of the project.

“It’s a great cause and it aligns with Delnas’ fundamental cultural principles of integrity and improving the wellbeing of others,”

“Delnas is a local company – nearing its 30th anniversary – and we wanted to make a positive impact and contribute to the community that have supported us.”

The unique design of the charity house is made evident by its roofline, and Nicole believes it adds a real ‘wow factor’.

“The long-span roofline is modern and looks incredible – incorporating an internal raked ceiling over the living areas creating interest and a sense of space,”

“The raised clerestory roof area in the middle of the home will incorporate glazing to allow natural light to flood the open plan living areas.”

The Delnas team were supported by other local partners, including Rovera Scaffolding and Safe-T-Roof, who provided perimeter scaffolding at no cost and Skyhire, who supplied a telehandler and operator to handle and lift the roofing material.

Lysaght Branch Manager Albert Nolan said the materials supplied for the home would stand the test of time.

“Lysaght Custom Orb® is the original Australian corrugated roof sheeting and wall cladding. Proudly made in Australia since 1921, Lysaght Custom Orb® is manufactured from COLORBOND® steel and provides a durable and contemporary design to any build,”

“Combined with the Lysaght Novaline® Fascia and Quad Gutter 115 system, these products offer a lightweight and simple solution for both residential and commercial applications,”

The contribution of materials is made possible through the support of the Lysaght Build Up fund.

“Supported by the Lysaght Build Up Fund, Lysaght are delighted to be able to support this incredible project as part of our commitment to strengthen the communities in which we live.”

Construction on the Strathnairn Charity House continues with completion targeted for later this year.
