Sparks set to fly with new training programs now enrolling
Ginninderry’s award-winning SPARK Training and Employment Initiative is gearing up to commence three more programs with training opportunities, including hospitality and business services, plus a unique program aimed at getting women back into the workforce.
SPARK programs offer accredited learning, hands-on training and access to unique employment pathways. The program has helped hundreds of Canberrans secure new careers in fields as diverse as childcare, civil construction, trades and business admin.
Enrolments are now open for the 2022 ClubsACT Hospitality Program, Business Services Program, and the unique Women Return to Work Program.

Women Return to Work Program
This innovative program focuses on women entering or returning to the workforce in partnership with Empowered Collective and the ACT Government Office for Women.
Specifically targeting women living within the ACT, these workshops will include:
- Creating professional resumes and cover letters
- Applying for jobs
- Online and government job applications
- Job interview preparation
- Maintaining personal presentation and dressing for the workplace
- Specialised workshops and guest speakers targeting; time management, goal setting, financial management and dealing with stress
You will also be able to explore your career options with a mentor through post-workshop individual mentoring sessions.
Workshops are being held in North Canberra and South Canberra.
ClubsACT Hospitality Program
In partnership with Canberra Institute of Technology (RTO Code: 0101) and ClubsACT, this program focuses on skills development, work experience and employment within the licenced club industry.
This program has been designed specifically to provide individuals with all the tickets and entry-level skills required to apply for jobs in the licenced club industry. Targeting people living or working in the ACT, this program will provide participants with Nationally Accredited courses in:
- Statement of Attainment – Hospitality Compliance Skill Set (SITSS00052)
- Statement of Attainment – Introduction to Hospitality Service (extract from SIT30616)
- Statement of Attainment – Customer Service Skill Set (SITSS00036)
Program partner, ClubsACT, will provide work experience placements and real employment pathways for participants who meet the criteria.
Business Services Program
In partnership with the Canberra Institute of Technology (RTO Code: 0101), this program focuses on skills development for various entry-level Business Services job roles. This qualification also reflects the role of individuals who have not yet entered the workforce and are developing the necessary skills in preparation for work.
Targeting people living within the Canberra community, this program will provide participants with a Certificate II in Workplace Skills (BSB20120) upon successful completion along with industry-specific training within the business administration sector, additional workshops that focus on resumes, job applications and interview techniques and support on completion of the program to connect with further education, training and employment pathways.
