Meet the Builders of Ginninderry – Part Two: Ideal Building Solutions

A select number of local builders have been handpicked to bring the master planned vision for Ginninderry to life. All of the builders were assessed against a number of criteria, in particular their desire and ability to add to the vision for Ginninderry, as well as offering exceptional value for money and quality.

Our weekly Meet the Builders series will help you to get to know our builders ahead of the release of their house and land packages for sale in 2017.

In part two of our question and answer of the series, we speak with Michele Elword from Ideal Building Solutions.

Give us a bit of background on you, your company and your story to date.

We are a family run business, operating for the last 16 years with a combined experience of over 50 years. Over the years we have undertaken projects in and around the Canberra region, from small extensions and renovations to large new home builds. In the most recent years we have enjoyed shaping the Canberra region (in our own small way) through building new homes for our clients.

It is our mission to provide our clients with a memorable experience from consultation right through to the completion of their new home.

What type of homes will you be involved in building at Ginninderry?

We will be looking at expanding on our current 3 and 4 bedroom home designs and looking at some new front facades showing current and classic trends to cater for the Ginninderry design control plans.  We are hoping to include some recycled materials and some natural products in our designs.

It is important to us, that we are involved in building homes that are sustainable. To us that means homes that are energy efficient, efficient on water usage and a home that is comfortable to live in and easy to maintain. We have no doubt that sustainability will be front of everyone’s mind at Ginninderry, and that excites us!

What do you think makes the Ginninderry development different?

Already Ginninderry has made an impression of standing out from other developments in Canberra.  Strong community engagement throughout the process thus far has not only kept the community informed but let everyone become part of the development.

We as builders are keen to be involved from the grass roots, and be part of the team shaping Ginninderry. The inclination towards energy efficiency and the 6 Star Green Star Communities rating shows the commitment to sustainable development. And that aligns with what we believe in and like to build at Ideal Building Solutions Pty Limited.

Why did you want to be involved in this development?

The unique character of Ginninderry offers a number of opportunities for all involved in the development. With the development extending over ACT and NSW borders it is exciting to have access to new beautiful nature corridors and be building a community in harmony with it.

The lifetime of the development and governance for environmental sustainability, align with our own company values. Moreover we are excited to be one of the many that influence and shape this community over the years.

What do you love about working in construction?

Working in construction has rewards at all stages of the projects, from meeting great new clients to delivering them their new home. There is always a new challenge to be had, idea to be thought of/created, and a new way to tackle them both. We particularly enjoy working with our clients to create a unique design and build their home that will suit and shape their individual lifestyle. We get a lot of satisfaction seeing a build completed and the fruition of all our teams’ hard work. In the process of all the above we meet plenty of people who are passionate at what they do and it’s hard not to let that rub off on you!
