Winter is the perfect time to learn a new skill, and Taekwondo offers benefits beyond just physical fitness. Under the guidance of 5th-degree instructor Patrick Steele, classes at The Link welcome participants of all ages—from preschoolers to adults.

Classes run on Monday and Friday evenings at 6 pm during school terms. Term enrolment costs $100 per student, with family discounts available to make this activity accessible for households. This martial art builds strength, flexibility, and confidence—all valuable assets during the winter months.

Community Yoga for Mind-Body Balance

The Link hosts weekly community yoga classes open to everyone in Strathnairn and surrounding West Belconnen suburbs. These sessions feature a slow “flow” style, making them approachable for practitioners of all experience levels.

Instructor-led sessions incorporate breathing exercises, meditation practices, and the all-important savasana (relaxation) time. Regular practice helps build strength and mobility while releasing tension—creating a perfect antidote to winter stress.

Ginninderry’s 13 kilometres of walking tracks transform with each season, offering a completely different experience in winter. The tracks wind through the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor, featuring Canberra’s first swing bridges and breathtaking views of the Murrumbidgee River’s expansive landscapes.

With various distances available, these paths accommodate different fitness levels, ensuring everyone can enjoy the natural beauty safely. Families particularly appreciate the shorter loop walks, designed to engage young explorers with the environment.

The facility includes amenities such as a barbecue, community and native garden beds, a children’s cubby house, and various art installations. Visitors can also take advantage of the e-bike fleet available for hire (free for up to two hours), offering another way to stay active even on colder days.
