This week we meet Maithili Mahalingasivam, Ginninderry’s Accounts Administrator

Do you think numbers are boring? Absolutely Not.

Maithili finds working with numbers fascinating, and her role involves managing account receivables, payables, and reports, as well as corresponding with relevant government bodies.

Having been with the team for over a year, Maithili is the person everyone turns to when there is an accounts-related question.

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I was born and raised in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, a war zone for nearly three decades. Despite the challenges, I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Jaffna, where I had no access to electricity and running water for years.

Later, I lived in Chennai, India, for nearly 10 years, where I completed a Master’s in Economics, Business Administration & Literature. In 2007, I moved to Sydney, Australia, to study for a Master of Professional Accounting at the University of Western Sydney.

After a few years, I moved to Canberra, where I live with my family and our beloved dog, Sky. I have worked in reception, administration, and accounting for a decade in Tuggeranong and have now worked for a year with this dynamic team at Ginninderry.

I’m excited to work with this fantastic team for many more years.

What does your role bring to the Ginninderry project?

My role is essential in ensuring the project runs smoothly and without interruption.

Working closely with our Project Finance Director, Adam Klau, I help to manage deadlines for claims and ensure payments are distributed to stakeholders on time.

Just imagine this role (Finance team) is like that of a small wheel for a big chariot.

A fun Fact?

I would love to say that I am an Olympic gold medallist, but the only thing I know is, how to spell S-P-O-R-T.

I have a deep love for music and occasionally play the keyboard and Veena, an Eastern string instrument.

Additionally, I’m my husband’s first critic when it comes to his passion for photography.

I strongly believe that “Love is God” and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

But at times, I love to immerse myself in nature’s mesmerising beauty on my own!
