Little Legends and Legendary Girls football programs launched

Ginninderry yesterday announced a new community partnership with the Belconnen Magpies Football Club (BMFC).

Ginninderry’s corporate sponsorship will see the joint venture become naming rights sponsor for the Belconnen Cats and Magpies Junior Football Club Auskick programs, along with the BMFC youth girls’ football program.

The Club’s Youth Kick programs will be called Little Legends Auskick, catering for all children between the age of 5 to 10 years old, while the youth girls football program will be named the Legendary Girls.

Belconnen Magpies Sponsorship Manager Dan Posch said the club was grateful for Ginninderry’s support.

“Without the support of local organisations our club would not survive and we are delighted to be able to partner with Ginninderry,” Posch said.

“We are really looking to grow our junior football program and it will be great to see our Little Legends and Legendary Girls running around in their new jerseys this weekend.”

BMFC was established in the early 1990s following the amalgamation of the Belconnen Football Club and the West Canberra Football Club and has been in existence for over 40 years.

Ginninderry Marketing and Communications Manager Niva Pryor said that the Magpies was an important part of the West Belconnen community and that the two organisations had a natural synergy.

“We’re really excited about launching our Little Legends and Legendary Girls programs with the Belconnen Magpies Football Club,” Pryor said. “Helping youth and empowering young women to thrive in whatever they turn their minds to is something we feel very passionately about.

“Our vision for Ginninderry is to create a community-based culture; one where people are brought together, develop and strengthen relationships over the pursuit of common interests and shared goals and we believe BMFC shares similar goals.

“We hope that every time a Magpies player pulls on their new jersey they feel like a ‘Little Legend’ or ‘Legendary Girl’ and we look forward to growing our partnership with the club well into the future.”
