Ginninderry receives commendation at national awards
Ginninderry has taken out a commendation in the Planning Institute of Australia’s (PIA’s) 2017 national awards for Public Engagement and Community Planning, recognising their ongoing commitment to effective stakeholder and community engagement.
Joint venture partners, the ACT Government and Riverview Developments, welcomed the announcement made last night at the PIA’s 2017 Planning Congress at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney.
The prestigious award seeks to recognise national urban and regional planners and their commitment to exercising best practice and innovation, drive and dedication towards overcoming adversity, while securing the best outcomes for a place or community.
Riverview Developments Managing Director David Maxwell said it was an honour to have received the national commendation.
“We are delighted with this award, but it also would not have been possible without the commitment of the adjoining West Belconnen community who have shaped the design and development of Ginninderry,” Maxwell said. “This community has been pivotal in the vision of Ginninderry, and it is pleasing to see that this vision is now becoming a reality.”
“We want to create a community where everyone is proud to live, work and visit and the most important part of achieving this is strong engagement with the public,” Maxwell said. “Our team is dedicated to that approach and this is fantastic recognition at a national level.
“Our vision is to create an urban greenfield development that captures the aspirations of the community, particularly when it comes to environmentally sustainable solutions.”
The national recognition comes mid-way through the opening sales release for Ginninderry’s first suburb of Strathnairn.
