Meet the Builders of Ginninderry – Part Eleven: Exhibit Design and Construction

A select number of local builders have been hand-picked to bring the master planned vision for Ginninderry to life. All of the builders were assessed against a number of criteria, in particular their desire and ability to add to the vision for Ginninderry, as well as offering exceptional value for money and quality.

Our weekly Meet the Builders series will help you to get to know our builders ahead of the release of their house and land packages for sale in 2017.

In part twelve of our question and answer of the series, we speak with Petar Ivancevic from Exhibit Design & Construction.

Give us a bit of background on you, your company and your story to date.

Although established in 2011, the origins of Exhibit Design & Construction dates back decades, with my father and grandfather having both been residential builders. It’s fair to say then that I pretty much grew up on construction sites. Doing so helped me to develop an early sense for both construction and communication, which benefited my initial architectural career by enabling me to envisage an end product, while working through designs with my clients.

Since 2011 we’ve acquired a high-level of design and construction experience within the residential market, primarily in Canberra. During this time, we’ve undertaken all types of work, including contract home building ranging from Greenfield construction, to knock down and rebuilds of single and multi-unit homes in established areas. While greenfield construction makes up the majority of our work, we have a significant contract workload of multi-unit dwellings in established areas. We have been recognised by clients for our distinctive design-based approach, which has led to the opportunity of constructing various dual occupancies, tri-occupancies and small scale developments in core and landmark areas.

What type of homes will you be involved in building at Ginninderry?

Ones that have a focus on quality custom design and excellence, built to anticipate future trends. By drawing on sustainable design practices that incorporate high-performance materials, we’ve been able to create a range of cost-effective housing options with reduced everyday running costs.

We understand the need for longevity in a home, and therefore strive to strike a balance between aesthetically pleasing homes that are also functional. Our objective is to stay ahead of trends and by doing so, create something our clients are truly proud of.

What do you think makes the Ginninderry development different?

  • Commitment to preserving the environment and natural beauty of the surrounding landscape
  • Attention to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle
  • Unique initiatives such as community gardens, housing diversity and commitment to sustainable living

Why did you want to be involved in this development?

The Ginninderry project team’s vision to create an environmentally sustainable community is one that complements the principles of our own company. Our 8-star energy efficient display home is testament to that. In this sense, the most attractive quality of the project is the team’s drive to preserving the local area and environment.

What do you love about working in construction?

Having previously being involved in the design aspect of the build I’ve learnt that it can be incredibly difficult for some clients to relate to their project. For someone who has also experienced a lifetime of construction talk/work and understands this process well, it’s really important for me to be able to involve my clients throughout the build, from design to completion of their new homes.
