Ginninderry project update – December 2017

Community & stakeholder engagement news

Community stakeholder and engagement opportunities have been abundant in November and December, with a variety of activities taking the form of several notable project team members presenting at the recent Canberra Design Festival, Energy Matters Forum, NAWIC Smart Cities breakfast, and Canberra Urban Regional Futures (CURF) Annual Forum 2017. On Saturday 25 November, members of the Canberra community visited The Link as part of SERREE Renewable Energy Day 2017, and wider tour of energy sites around the region. There they met with Ginninderry’s Sustainability Manager Jessica Stewart, who led the group around the site highlighting key smart energy features of the building.

On Friday 15 December the project team celebrated another milestone moment, with the unveiling of the Ginninderra Creek mosaic installation at the inaugural ‘future residents’ eve’ at The Link. The occasion marks the beginning of what the project team hopes will set the tone for the community, as a place of culture, inclusion and practicality, with many getting their green thumb on to plant herbs in the site’s first community garden.

Development news

From a development front, the Estate Development Plan (EDP) Stage 1 has been delayed due to an appeal by Ginninderra Falls Association on the approved notice of decision. This matter is with ACAT. A tribunal hearing is scheduled for a four day hearing commencing 28 February 2018.
