Ginninderry Living Lab represented in Geneva

The Ginninderry Living Lab is an extremely exciting part of this new community. The Ginninderry Living Lab provides a framework to allow long term research programs to occur over the lifetime of the 40-year project to explore and deliver best practice thinking over time.

While long term research isn’t normally a standard thing for new developments, the Ginninderry Living Lab isn’t alone. We have joined as a founding project to the Australian Living Lab Innovation Network (ALLIN). ALLIN provides us with an opportunity to collaborate with other Living Labs around Australia – to learn from each other and share our experiences. This week, delegates from ALLIN represented Ginninderry and the other Australian projects in an annual forum in Geneva, Switzerland called Open Living Labs Days. This forum is hosted by the European Network of Living Labs (ENOLL) and provides people from all around to attend interactive panel discussions, hands-on workshops with leading experts and site visits. This collaborative approach allows us to be more innovative, share knowledge from our experiences and learn from others.

Ginninderry offers something unique to ALLIN among Living Labs; it provides the opportunity for long-term research into masterplanned communities. Our Sustainability Manager, Jessica Stewart says, “We have an incredible opportunity to learn, test and deliver best practice thinking over the next 40 years. The Ginninderry Living Lab will form the framework for research to happen over this time. You don’t get many opportunities to research human and environmental behaviour over such a long period.”

We recently had Matthew Keighley join the Ginninderry team on secondment to help establish a framework to underpin the long-term research program of the Ginninderry Living Lab. Read more about him and the establishment of the Lab here.
