Art Exhibition: The Faces of Caring by Good Omen Goodeze

Tuesday 10 June – Sunday 20 July

Many of the 210 local residents who volunteer at Good Omen Goodeze (GOG) are unsung heroes and produce creative and beautiful community art. This exhibition includes fabric, knitting, crocheting and other visual art forms that showcases what they do for the Canberra community and gives you a peek into their world. It is a celebration of their work, their commitment to community and the love they knit into their donated goods providing comfort, one stitch at a time.

GOG runs “Knitting for Charity and Wellbeing” groups in five North Canberra on a weekly and fortnightly basis. The groups provide a safe, flexible and creative space for socially isolated or marginalised locals to meet and indulge in their shared passion for craft. The Volunteers attending the groups produce therapeutic comfort items for Canberra locals which are donated to patients accessing clinical care in Canberra hospitals, all five Walk In Centres and The ACT Ambulance Service. They produce a variety of comfort items such as rugs, toys and other items. All are welcome at the groups and there is no cost to attend.
