Hartley Hall Markets
Hop in the car and take a short drive to Hall this August for their monthly family-friendly market. Silent Book Club @ Café Stepping Stone
Taking place monthly, this Silent Book Club is open to everyone, with no fees or age limits. You can engage with others as much or as little as you like! Unlike traditional book clubs, there’s no assigned reading or discussion, just a peaceful space to read your book among fellow book lovers.
Here’s how it works: arrive, settle in with a drink, and maybe share what you’re reading, spend a quiet, undisturbed hour reading, and then socialise (or continue reading if you prefer). Bring your current read, order your favourite beverage, and enjoy some uninterrupted reading time.

Light Up Lyneham
It’s one of the best community events on the northside – and it’s back for another year! Featuring live music, entertainment, community stalls, and the highlight sunset lantern walk led by the brilliantly lit Canberra Mountain Lion to specially illuminated local wetlands, Light Up Lyneham is full of community cheer. Go along to enjoy food, entertainment, and illuminated art installations that will warm even the coldest winter night.

Illy – The Good-er Life Tour
Following Illy’s 3rd ARIA number one album “Good Life”, the explosive live show brings high octane energy with certified classics and new hits. Smiths at Belco: Tim Freedman
After the sold-out Love This City 25 Years tour, Tim Freedman strips things back for an intimate cabaret experience. Whirlygig and the Book by Heidi Smith
This is an experimental project consolidating multiple aspects of Smith’s art making, generating interconnected textiles, drawings and sculptural objects. The exhibition resembles an uncanny loom weaving ideas, tatterdemalion costumes and expressing the experience of advanced illness and disability. Viewers consider creative pursuits’ benefits for wellbeing, mental health support and regenerative interactions through multidisciplinary making.

Rescue by Lisa Jose
Go along to see sensitive portraits celebrating the compassion of rescue organisations and individuals caring for vulnerable animals. Aware by Savanna Storm
In this exhibition, you’ll see unique jewellery telling environmental stories and the imperative to repair our Earth. It will inspire you to move beyond gemstones as mere aesthetics to consider layered meanings inviting social, political and ethical dialogue. Each piece carries titles evoking positive connotations while revealing deeper backstories. Acquiring a piece makes you a custodian – passing the story on honours our Earth.

Around the Shimmering Lake by Rowena Evans
EASS Award recipient Evans investigates Lake Ginninderra’s shore and parkland, sharing place through sounds, sights, ambiences and impressions. Her research involves walking the lakeshore, observing, listening, drawing and collecting. The artwork considers relationships between theories, observations, distant hills and the physical satisfaction of making art, using materials from sites to link artwork to places.

WORKSHOPS
Let Loose! Expression and Mark-Making through Drawing
Intimidated by the blank page? This free drawing workshop explores expressive mark-making, layering, and composition through guided drills using charcoal, pencil, and pastel. Led by visual artist Sarah Murray, participants will create drawing studies while building skills and confidence. The workshop encourages freeing up mark-making, using expressive gesture, experimenting with materials, and making a creative mess! No prior art experience necessary. Places strictly limited.

Repair Café 2025
Held on the first Sunday of every month at The Link Building by SEE-Change and Kippax Uniting Church, this is your opportunity to work with repairers to learn how to mend anything from clothing, lamps, toasters, kettles, smartphones, and more.

Gas Kiln Firing Workshop with Chris Harford
Learn to pack and fire a gas kiln in this comprehensive four-session course. Covering kiln design, firing schedules, packing techniques, combustion systems, and reduction firing processes, this hands-on workshop includes practical packing, a full-day firing session, and unpacking with debrief. Completion may lead to assessment for kiln hire access at Strathnairn Arts. Participants should bring glazed work, snacks, and wear appropriate clothing. Knitting and Crochet with Good Omen Good Eze

Free Botanical Drawing & Painting Workshops
Margaret Saul invites participants to develop true observational skills and uncover their inner artist through botanical illustration in this free workshop. Each workshop series comprises four to six classes focusing on a specific seasonal plant, accommodating both beginner and experienced levels. With over thirty years as a natural science illustrator and botanical artist, Margaret offers structured, step-by-step teaching including practical demonstrations, detailed class notes and guided exercises in this welcoming space where art and nature intertwine. Guided Walks through the Conservation Corridor
Reconnect with nature and explore the beauty of the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor with a guided walk. West Belco Bike Bus
Join a bunch of like-minded people and cycle into work. The West Belco Bike Bus is a group of people who cycle into work in a group, with a set route and timetable so it can pick up more ‘passengers’ along the way.
Cycling is a quick, fun way to get to work while keeping fit and healthy, along with saving emissions from a car or bus commute. The West Belco Bike Bus starts off from Kippax shops, then cycles through to the Belconnen Town Centre, Civic, Commonwealth Avenue Bridge and on to Barton.
