What’s On in Ginninderry this May

It’s the kind of weather made for layering up and getting outside, whether that’s for a walk through the neighbourhood or a relaxed coffee in the sun. From community events and fitness sessions to workshops and outdoor activities, there’s plenty happening to help you stay active, connected, and inspired.
Here’s your guide to what’s on in and around Ginninderry this May.
COMMUNITY EVENTS & WORKSHOPS
Guided Walks through the Conservation Corridor
Reconnect with nature and explore the beauty of the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor with a guided walk.
Led by a knowledgeable ranger, these walks offer a great opportunity to learn about the Corridor’s wildlife, ecosystems, and the current conservation efforts in the area. Not to mention you’ll get a front-row seat to stunning views of the Murrumbidgee River, Brindabella Mountains, and surrounds.

Silent Book Club @ Café Stepping Stone
Taking place fortnightly on Sundays, this Silent Book Club is open to everyone, with no fees or age limits. You can engage with others as much or as little as you like! Unlike traditional book clubs, there’s no assigned reading or discussion, just a peaceful space to read your book among fellow book lovers.
Here’s how it works: arrive, settle in with a drink, and maybe share what you’re reading, spend a quiet, undisturbed hour reading, and then socialise (or continue reading if you prefer). Bring your current read, order your favourite beverage, and enjoy some uninterrupted reading time.
Saturday 10 and 24 May, 2 pm to 4 pm | Café Stepping Stone, Gullifer Street, Strathnairn | More information here.

EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS
Chasing Alice: Annie Lok
Annie Lok’s “Chasing Alice” presents the latest works in her ongoing “Rabbit Holes” series – carefully constructed digital compositions where female protagonists navigate landscapes created through photo manipulation, filtering, warping, and layering. Each piece explores symmetry, balance, texture, and colour while tackling the human experience through social, political, and art historical lenses.
The series takes on deeper meaning, knowing it emerged from Lok’s 2021 workplace accident that left her with ruptured discs and chronic pain. Her “Rabbit Holes” become both creative expression and escape, testing our physical, intellectual, and emotive boundaries when encountering familiar and unfamiliar spaces.
Does our trauma response activate, or do we find welcomed escape? Only viewers can determine how each Rabbit Hole serves them.
Running until 17 May | Window Gallery, Belconnen Arts Centre | Opening: 6 pm Friday 27 March | Free entry | More information here

Mental Health and Nature
Mental Health treatment is often viewed as a clinical activity, taking place within four walls. This exhibition challenges that narrow view to see our experience of nature as vital for mental health. Jenny Adams has a long-term mental health disability and has been painting for over 20 years.
This exhibition is her first solo in more than 10 years. Mental Health and Nature offers Jenny the freedom to celebrate nature experienced locally in Canberra, in nearby farmland that has been returned to its natural environment, and in other locations around Australia.
Jenny has a distinctive approach to her subject, drawing out shapes, adding vibrant colours and decorative elements, to express her response to the natural world.
Running until 17 May | Generator Gallery, Belconnen Arts Centre | Free entry | More information here.
Strathnairn Arts Members Exhibition 2026
One of the highlights of the season, the 2026 Members Exhibition at Strathnairn Arts is a must-see this May. Showing in the Woolshed Gallery until 10 May, this annual exhibition brings together a diverse collection of works from local artists, celebrating creativity across a wide range of styles and mediums.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to experience the depth of talent within the Ginninderry community, and if something catches your eye, many of the pieces are available to purchase!
