Starting out strong, 2018’s first SPARK program completed

Our SPARK Training and Employment Initiative has just finished another wonderful program, the first of many in 2018, the Belconnen Return to Work Program for Women.

Partnering with Robyn Shultz from the Career Shop and funded by the ACT government Department for Women, this program provided coaching to women who have been out of the workforce for some time due to family commitments, who are now ready to re-enter the paid workforce. It was delivered across three workshops in March and, held locally at Kippax Uniting Church.

The first workshop taught participants best practise standards for writing and structuring resumes and cover letters for job applications. In the second workshop, techniques for making a great impression in a job interview were demonstrated and participants had an opportunity to practise with each other. The final workshop focused on strategies for professional personal styling and what is appropriate for the workplace.

Over forty different women attended the various workshops, and all left armed with new skills and resources to pursue their future endeavours. We wish them all the very best of luck and look forward to sharing their journeys.
