The evening also celebrates music from Orbison’s legendary friends, including George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and k.d. lang, plus the live debut of brand-new songs co-written with Roy’s collaborator Joe Melson.

Art Exhibition: The Art of Letting Go by Cristy Froehlich

After two decades of public service life, photographer and nature lover Cristy Froehlich steps into a new chapter – one painted with emotion, wildness, and release.

The Art of Letting Go is a deeply personal watercolour exhibition that traces Cristy’s emotional journey from boundaries to belonging. These works explore the tension between two distinct parts of oneself—one grounded in structure, comforted by rules, boundaries, and predictability: the other wild and uncontained, driven by a deep yearning for freedom, spontaneity, and creative release.

Well May We Say – Marking the 50th anniversary of the Dismissal

Canberra’s favourite musical satirists Shortis and Simpson return with a timely new show marking 50 years since the dramatic dismissal of the Whitlam Government in November 1975.

Through song, story, and sharp political satire, Well May We Say weaves together the political drama, Canberra’s unique perspective (those people chanting ‘We Want Gough’ were mostly Canberrans!), and John Shortis’s personal journey into political commentary. Featuring specially written songs performed with community choir Worldly Goods, this production brings fresh insight and humour to one of the most controversial moments in Australian political history.

Expect it to be imaginative, funny, poignant, and surprisingly informative – quintessential Shortis and Simpson.

Saturday 8 November, 7 pm | Belconnen Arts Centre  | More information here.

Queer PowerPoint – Three Nights, Three Venues

Canberra’s queer brilliance takes centre stage across three spectacular nights this November!

After selling out shows nationwide, Queer PowerPoint brings its hilariously smart showcase to Belconnen Arts Centre, Tuggeranong Arts Centre, and The Q in Queanbeyan. Watch local queer artists, thinkers, and glorious weirdos share their burning passions, wildest theories, and secret desires through Microsoft’s most mundane medium – PowerPoint.

Each night features a completely different lineup of local talent, so you can catch all three shows for unique performances every time. Co-hosts Harriet Gillies and Xanthe Dobbie guide you through hot takes, heartfelt moments, and heated debates, with DJ Stereogamous providing the soundtrack. The Conversation called it “a stupidly funny and extremely satisfying riot of information” – and they’re not wrong.

Thursday 13 November at The Q in Queanbeyan  | Friday 14 November at Tuggeranong Arts Centre | Saturday 15 November at Belconnen Arts Centre | More information here.
