From the start, our vision for Ginninderry has been to create a sustainable community of international significance in the Capital Region. By raising the bar for best practices in sustainability, design, construction and innovation, we aim to create a world-class community that delivers an exceptional quality of life for Ginninderry residents.
Ginninderry is Canberra’s first 6 Star Green Star community. But the Green Building Council of Australia’s Green-Star is about much more than sustainable homes. It recognises excellence across an entire community – from environmental outcomes and liveability to economic prosperity, governance and innovation.
It’s the highest Green Star – Communities rating available, recognising Ginninderry as a place designed to be better for people, better for the environment and built for the future.

Covering 242 hectares – which will eventually expand to 596, the Conservation Corridor is cared for and protected by a community-led trust, so that it can continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Ginninderry is a joint venture between the ACT Government’s Suburban Land Agency (SLA) and Riverview Developments (ACT) Pty Limited. Together we are committed to creating a world-class development that exemplifies the highest standards of urban design and sustainability.
Collaboration with the government, community and industry has been central to our approach since the initial stages of planning. Ginninderry will continue to develop and foster genuine partnerships with local residents, conservation, Indigenous, arts, education, industry and sporting groups.
In 2015, the name Ginninderry was chosen following two years of research and consultation with the project’s People and Place Group (PPG), a forum of key local stakeholders. The team also worked closely with the Australian National University, the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and the local First Nations community to ensure all available linguistic records were considered.
SPARK is our unique training and employment initiative that was born out of our commitment to improving the education, social, and economic outcomes of residents within the Capital Region. Since its inception in 2016, SPARK has proudly delivered over 1,858 training places, 807 work experience placements and 934 job outcomes.
