Territory Plan Variation tabled

ACT Minister for Planning, Mick Gentleman, has given the green light to a 6500-home development in West Belconnen.

The approved Territory Plan Variation will deliver the ACT homes over the next 20-30 years. Situated west of Macgregor and Holt, the development will reconnect Canberrans to the Murrumbidgee River.

Minister Gentleman said the suburb will become a community hub with unique environmental and heritage characteristics in West Belconnen.

He applauded the level of community engagement that has taken place so far in the project, as more than 2500 people have visited the West Belconnen shop front in Kippax.

“This engagement model, which ensures the community has a direct say in shaping future developments…really has been a model for how planning and development should be done in this growing city,” Mr Gentleman said.
