Looking for an opportunity to get qualified and work in the construction sector?

A new construction training and employment opportunity is now being offered at West Belconnen, in conjunction with Strathnairn Arts Association, Bricklayer Training Australia, Construction Industry Training Council, Training Fund Authority, Better Services and OZHelp Foundation.

The 10-week program will  provide participants with an opportunity to develop their skills within the construction industry, undertake work experience placements with sub-contractors and complete their training at the Strathnairn Arts Association live training site. On completion participants will receive a Certificate II Construction.

Emma Sckrabei, Training and Employment Manager for Ginninderry Joint Venture explained that this program is about collaborating with a range of stakeholders already doing great work in the West Belconnen and Canberra region.

“This program is a unique opportunity for the West Belconnen/Belconnen area as it seeks to deliver formal qualifications and pathways to careers in construction at a community training site rather than in a traditional classroom environment,” Emma said.

“The ideal participant in this program might be someone who has been out of the workforce for a while and thinks construction might be for them, a young person (17 or over) who is looking at entering the construction industry or perhaps a woman who is looking at a more non-traditional employment pathway. Interested participants must be physically fit, able to attend the 10 weeks of training and not mind early mornings!”

Participants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand passport holder resident for more than six (6) months, or a visa holder with work rights and not excluded from participation in government funded training, live in the West Belconnen and wider region and be at least 17 years of age.

The information session will be followed by eligibility selection at Kippax Uniting Church on Tuesday 5 July 2016, from 10:30am-12:00pm.

Call us today on (02) 6255 1173 to reserve your spot at the information session. Anyone looking to take part in this training program must attend.
