Ginninderry recognised at this year’s ACT Planning Excellence awards

The Planning Institute of Australia Awards (PIA), Canberra Chapter were held last Friday to celebrate another year of outstanding planning practice, people and projects within the ACT. The Ginninderry project along with our very own Susan Davis, Community and Cultural Planning Manager were up for three nominations respectively.

Ginninderry made a trifecta in taking out the following awards;
• From Plan to Place – The Link
• Hard Won Victory – Strathnairn All-Electric Suburb
• Public Engagement and Community Planning

The Link was recognised as an outstanding building to service a variety of functions; as a community meeting space for organisations, office and sales function, including supporting Ginninderry SPARK program.

The judging panel celebrated the Strathnairn All-Electric Suburb as a pioneering project for development within the ACT and the ongoing commitment to sustainability. Strathnairn is the first suburb in Canberra that provides for an all-electric suburb, standard practice would have provided gas to the estate for residential purposes.

Susan Davis has been recognised for her outstanding public engagement and local engagement with the Canberra community. The judging panel were impressed with Susan’s engagement with West Belconnen residents; three years prior to the first residents moving into the master planned community. The judging panel were further impressed with Susan’s work and commitment to incorporate local art and stories throughout the Ginninderry development.
