Applications for Ginninderry’s 2026/27 Sponsorship and Community Grants close this week, offering local organisations and community groups the chance to secure funding for initiatives that build connection, support sustainability, or enhance local life.

With $95,000 available across two funding streams, this is your opportunity to transform an idea into reality, whether that’s a community event, conservation project, public art installation, or something unique that serves the Capital Region.

How to apply

Community Grants ($10,000 pool): Projects that enhance community life within Ginninderry itself. Think street pantries, dog park events, trivia nights, public art, neighbourhood gatherings, or creative initiatives that bring residents together. These are grassroots projects that directly build community connection and belonging.

Sponsorship ($85,000 pool): Broader initiatives across the Capital Region falling under three key areas: community support and development, environment and sustainability, and industry partnerships. This might include sporting organisations, arts programs, conservation initiatives, or industry-related activities that align with Ginninderry’s values.

Real impact: Turtlewatch ACT

Want to see what’s possible? Consider the Ginninderra Catchment Group’s Turtlewatch ACT program, supported through the Ginninderry sponsorship program.

Over seven months, this citizen science project monitored Eastern long-necked turtle populations in Ginninderra Creek and local wetlands. Twenty-nine trained volunteers participated in turtle sampling, with another nine volunteers protecting nests from fox predation.

The result? Eighty-two turtles captured, marked, and released. Eight nests protected. A community of university students and retirees united by turtle conservation, learning together and supporting each other through months of fieldwork.

But the project’s impact extended beyond numbers. Volunteers gained practical ecological research skills while contributing genuine conservation outcomes, the data gathered informed ACT Government wetland design improvements, and a community was formed around shared purpose and outdoor activity.

What we’re looking for

Ginninderry sponsorship and grants support initiatives that:

Build community: Projects bringing people together, creating connections, enhancing neighbourhood life, or supporting local organisations that strengthen social fabric.

Support sustainability: Environmental conservation, habitat protection, biodiversity monitoring, sustainable practices, or education initiatives around ecological responsibility.

Foster industry partnerships: Collaborations supporting economic prosperity, innovation, workforce development, or industry connections benefiting the Capital Region.

The best applications demonstrate clear community benefit, align with Ginninderry’s vision of sustainable community development, and show genuine commitment to outcomes rather than just activities.

Applications close soon

This week is your last chance to apply for 2026/27 funding. Don’t let the opportunity pass you by – bring your ideas to life!

The application process is straightforward: outline your project, explain the community benefit, detail how funding would be used, and demonstrate alignment with Ginninderry’s focus areas.

Both financial support and in-kind contributions are available, recognising that different projects have different needs. Sometimes venue access or facility use matters as much as direct funding.

Your project could be next. That idea you’ve been discussing with neighbours, that initiative your organisation’s been wanting to launch, that community need you’ve identified – this is the opportunity to make it real.

Applications close on Sunday 17 May. Don’t miss it.
