Project Background
Macnamara North is the fourth stage of the Ginninderry project. It is approximately 95 hectares in area and sits to the north of current Macnamara. At completion, it will accommodate approximately 1,400 dwellings across three Subdivision Development Application (SDA) areas. Macnamara North supports a mix of housing types, commercial uses, and community facilities.
The first development application within Macnamara North is referred to as SDA1 (Subdivision Development Application 1).
The neighbourhood will balance urban density with its sensitive interfaces including the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor, Belconnen Heritage Farm area, and the former landfill site (Ginninderry Regeneration Project) while embedding the project’s sustainability vision.
Careful attention has been given to walkability, active transport, and local services to ensure residents can live, work, and connect within the community rather than rely solely on private car-based travel.
Macnamara North will demonstrate how design innovation, heritage celebration, and environmental stewardship can combine to deliver a distinctive and socially connected community.
