When Attila became the inaugural president of the Ginninderry Residents Association at the end of November, he inherited a community that had spent 12 months thoughtfully designing what they wanted their association to look like.

Two workshops brought residents together to ask essential questions: Do we want a residents’ association? What should it look like? The blueprint they created isn’t about imposing rules – it’s about collaboration and community connection.

What the association does

The association operates around five clear objectives: representing residents, gathering feedback, building stakeholder connections (schools, local businesses), running community events, and developing programs supporting wellbeing.

They’re running “Ginninderry Connects” accessible community gatherings happening at least three times a year with pizza, developer updates, and conversation. The first is coming up in early September. 

They’re also organising exciting events throughout the year – keep an eye out for a Halloween celebration on Saturday 31 August featuring music, dancing, and activities for all ages!

“I’d like to see us get wider into the community because we are a very diverse community in Ginninderry,” Attila explains. “I’d like to work on ways to better integrate and take advantage of that diversity because that’s what makes Ginninderry great.”

What sets this association apart is its commitment to collaboration. 

“We don’t want it to be like an American homeowners association, which goes around telling people what to do and how to do it,” Attila emphasises. “We want it to be more about community and focussing on those objectives.”

How to get involved

The Residents Association is being built by residents, for residents. And they’re inviting you to be part of it! It’s as simple as signing a membership form and getting in touch.  

Only residents and property owners can vote, which protects the association’s purpose of representing Ginninderry residents.
