For the sixth consecutive year, Ginninderry has dedicated enough funds to make 250 food hampers, a significant part of HelpingACT’s 2025 Christmas Drive.

Ginninderry has continued its dedication to the Canberra community, as part of its annual Sponsorship Program. The funds support HelpingACT deliver its annual Christmas Hamper Packing event, an initiative that brings joy and relief to struggling families across Canberra.

Over 80 volunteers gathered at The Link, Ginninderry’s Community and Information Centre, to pack the hampers for locals struggling during the festive season. The hampers were filled with festive goodies like Christmas puddings, lollies, chips, and long-life food. The essentials will mean families won’t need to worry about spending money on groceries and food for a week. Volunteers also collected hundreds of donated toys, for parents and carers to make sure their little one had a gift under the Christmas tree.

Some of the recipients of the hampers included:

  • Homeless individuals attending the Early Morning Centre’s Christmas party
  • Refugees and asylum seekers supported by Companion House
  • Vulnerable families requiring food assistance
  • Residents at Havelock Housing

The remaining hampers and toys will be distributed through HelpingACT’s Foodie Van at the Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre in Civic and their Franklin hub.
