Background

A Temporary Traffic Management Plan (TTMP) was granted in 2019 to accommodate the GX Display Village in Strathnairn. This TTMP involved placing a temporary median crossing through Pro Hart Avenue to allow access to Bonthrone Street, the placement of jersey kerbs (temporary road blocks) on Bonthrone Street as well as directional signage.

This TTMP expires on 1 May 2024, and work to return Pro Hart Avenue to its original design will commence on 29 April. Affected residents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the available alternate route—an example via Yeomans Street is illustrated in the accompanying image.

Q&A

A Temporary Traffic Management Plan (TTMP) was granted in 2019 to accommodate the GX Display Village in Strathnairn. This TTMP involved placing a temporary median crossing through Pro Hart Avenue to allow access to Bonthrone Street, the placement of jersey kerbs (temporary road blocks) on Bonthrone Street as well as directional signage.

The TTMP can be found via the following link: https://ginninderry.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Display-Village-TTMP-from-01052023-to-0105202477.pdf

After further consultation with our traffic engineers, they have advised us that the permanent retention of the crossing would not comply with ACT Government road standards. While it was acceptable as a temporary measure when the Bonthrone/Yeoman Street intersection was closed, the Pro Hart Avenue crossing would not meet safety or performance requirements as a more permanent arrangement.

Signage denoting the crossing as temporary was installed in accordance with the government-approved Temporary Traffic Management Plans (TTMP) that has been in place since 1 September 2019. Additionally, Ginninderry highlighted the future closure of the intersection at the Roads, Traffic & Parking Community Workshop in January 2023. The Listening Report from this workshop was shared with our Purchaser and Resident email database in February 2023. Finally, Ginninderry issued a letter to immediately affected community members on 16 April 2024.
