Construction training and employment program set to spark bright futures.
The successful SPARK Training and Employment program has announced details of its 2021 JobTrainer Ginninderry Construction Program with participants set to benefit from a ‘taste’ of different skill sets within the construction sector.
The innovative accredited training program is open to people living in the ACT and will provide participants with several units of competency across OHS, manual handling, carpentry tools and equipment, tiling, painting and decorating, brick and block laying and more.
The announcement of the 2021 program follows the success of the course in 2020 where local participants received accredited construction training, setting them up for continuing study and apprenticeship opportunities.
Ginninderry Training and Employment Manager Emma Sckrabei said the success of the program demonstrated the benefits of providing construction pathway training.
“The SPARK JobTrainer Ginninderry Construction Program gives locals access to hands-on accredited training and work-experience in their own backyard”
“Our successful model aims to build critical skills and open employment pathways within our region”.
The 10-week program is delivered three days a week with modules in a combination of theory and practical hands-on learning and industry work experience. Participants on the 2021 program will work on a live training site in the Strathnairn Arts Precinct.
The program is being delivered in partnership with the Canberra Institute of Technology, Strathnairn Arts Association and the ACT Training Fund Authority with support from the Australian Government through JobTrainer.
An information and enrolment session will be held at UnitingCare Kippax on Thursday 29 April. Residents of the ACT aged 17 years and over are eligible to apply.
