The NSW Planning Process

On 17 April 2015, the NSW Government announced that the Yass Valley Council’s application for the rezoning of the Parkwood land had merit to proceed to the next step of the rezoning process. This so-called “gateway” decision in the NSW planning process included a requirement to undertake some further work on a number of aspects of the proposal prior to the commencement of community consultation.

There will be a comprehensive community engagement process associated with any exhibition, and at this stage that is likely to occur late 2017 through to early 2018.

It is likely to be at least 10 years before the development crosses the NSW border. An earlier start may be possible particularly to open up access to Ginninderra Falls.

The process being followed in NSW is outlined in the flowchart.
