The streets of Ginninderry’s new display village – GX – came alive on Sunday with a festival style celebration headlined by celebrities, high-energy performers, family entertainment and a host of workshops and displays.
The doors of 14 new display homes were thrown open to thousands of visitors who enjoyed a first look at GX set against a backdrop of food, fun and family entertainment.
Scott Cam, Gold Logie winning host of smash-hit Channel 9 show The Block, was the star of the show, walking the streets of GX chatting to visitors and sharing his building tips. He was joined by Paul West from River Cottage Australia who launched a new book and hosted a popular cooking demonstration. The main stage was the place to be for fans of the Teeny Tiny Stevies and Junkyard Beats plus a range of local artists while visitors also took part in a range of workshops and displays. The Mini-G tiny house proved popular with lines of people taking the opportunity to tour a 27sqm fully furnished ‘shipping container’ tiny house.
Visitors were also given their first taste of the innovation on offer at GX with many taking the opportunity to download the GX App to learn more about the sustainability features of the homes on display or tour the arts trail, with dozens of original pieces from local artists on show.
GX will be open from 10am until 4pm every Friday to Monday. (Mini-G tiny house is open Saturday and Sunday only). Download the GX App now to plan your visit and explore the display homes.
