BBQ refresh exhibition - Al Phemister and Dinah Vandemeys

The Link 1 McClymont Way, Strathnairn

In 2022 Ginninderry invited experienced visual artists to enliven the Ginninderry BBQ area , and to engage the community in this process. This May, Ginninderry will exhibit the evolution of this collaborative community project at the Link Artspace. The barbeque area at the Link Ginninderry is envisaged as a place for the community to gather and was originally built by Ginninderry SPARK participants in 2019. (SPARK is Ginninderry’s unique training and employment initiative) The designs by Al and Dinah have three parts that intersect and overlay each other. The project began with student workshops. With students they explored local flora and fauna native to the area of the Ginninderry. The students went on to draw and record these plants and creatures; and these drawings became the source of design and inspiration to be implemented into the area.
